December 2011

Welcome Back to Angie: As we expected, we are hearing lots of stories about Angie’s travels overseas. It is nice having our usual routines back just in time for the Christmas rush!

Term Dates: Our Christmas Party is on December 9th. You should all have had notices in your pockets about this; please let us know if not and we’ll print off some more. We are still open for a whole week after the Christmas Party, and finish on December 16th.
Term 1 2012 begins on Wednesday February 1st.

Playdate: This will be held on January 26th, 2012, 1pm – 3pm, and is for children and their families who are currently on our waiting list and also for prospective children and their families. If you have a child on the waiting list please come along! – and if you know anyone who is interested in looking at this centre as an option, please tell them about this playdate.

(strong> Off to school: The end of this term is the last for several of our children – Sylvia, Emir, Leon, Tom, Eva, Isla, Cara and Emily are all off to school first thing Term 1 2012. These children are all off to Hampden Street School and will see lots of each other there! Best wishes to all of you!! Harry and Bridget also turn 5 in the holidays and will be attending Enner Glynn School along with their siblings! Best wishes to all of you – and keep in touch with us!

Programme: Children helped to plant the new flowering blossom tree a week or so ago. This joins the liquid amber in providing shade in the future for our tamariki. We are also spending time practicing our Christmas songs – we are singing to the senior citizens next week in the hall next door (Tuesday), and also for the Christmas Party of course! Our Christmas tree arrives this weekend, and we will spend lots of time decorating and making it beautiful!

Administration: We are currently sorting out bookings for next year. Thanks to all who have let us know which sessions you want – everyone will receive confirmation emails before the end of this term.

Policies: The last policy for this month is Physical Development – please look on the inside noticeboard above the nature table.

Student: Welcome to Diane Walker who will be doing a five week practicum with us for the remainder of this term. Diane is a first year student with the Open Polytechnic, and Ruby will be her Associate Teacher.

Constitution: Just a reminder that this is in good shape to be passed at the Special General Meeting to be held just before the Christmas Party. If you have any feedback about it, please see Mary before the meeting. Thanks.

We wish you all a happy Christmas and New Year, and safe travelling!!

Mary, Angie, Ann, Ruby, Ji Young and Esther.
