Learning

At Rutherford Street Kindergarten we focus on equipping the children with the skills they will need to be up-standing members of society by being able to share, ask for a turn, build relationship with all, show respect for others, animals and the environment, problem solve, communicate, stand up for what we believe in, take responsibility for our actions and care for our environment around us. Our kindergarten is not just about children though. We are committed to having a relationship with the families of all our children and have an open door policy.

Rutherford Street Kindergarten offers quality early childhood education based on the national curriculum Te Whāriki. Our program – including a Friday morning transition to school session promotes independence and individualised learning. Led by our head teacher Libby Slow, our teachers encourage group interactions, which promote social development by using music and literacy.

Parent Comment

“Having recently shifted from another kindy (which we thought was good) we are gobsmacked at how great Rutherford Street is – a huge credit to the staff who are always welcoming, cheerful, knowledgeable and professional.”
